So, Tara and I really tore up the town this weekend (not really). Friday night we celebrated Cinco de Mayo at home with some chicken tacos, rice and beans, and then went out for 3 drinks. Home by 11:00. Saturday we took the girls and went to lunch (first experience with twins and restaurant high chairs ...not good), and then I took Tara on the hometown tour. We drove down to the marina, and took in the sights. We ended the afternoon with some gelatto. Yum!
While the girls stayed in town, the boys went to a motorcycle expo. Brodie had a good time. He ate a hot dog that I hear was the world's largest, and he entertained everyone by dancing to the live band (I KNEW I should have dressed him in his Skynrd shirt!!) On the way home, I guess they stopped to buy milk and donuts. So we asked Brodie, what was your favorite part of your day with Daddy? And he said, "When we ate a donut." Then we asked him what Daddy's favorite part of the day was, and Brodie said, "When he was laying down." Hmmm....Could've stayed home in bed eating donuts, apparently. Tara and I took Brodie to the store for some Italian groceries, and he loudly announced as we entered, "Mmmm! I smell popcorn!" About a minute later, Ralph the owner tracked us down and gave Brodie a little bag of popcorn. I think Brodie is going to be a politician. He knows how to get what he wants.
Anyway, we had grilled steak, salad, and spiced/diced potatoes for dinner. Tara and I were going to check out some of the "kitschy" martini bars uptown, but decided we're not really the $8 martini crowd, so we sat in the yard with some beer. We ended the night watching one of my "new" favorite movies, Donnie Darko. We may not be as wild as we were 10 years ago, but we had a lot of fun. We had a really nice weekend catching up after 3 years. Tara loves the kids, and was a great help with the babies. She is definitely welcome back anytime! Despite what sounds like a tame weekend, I feel spent. All the kids were up by 6am, and we have a beautiful day of yardwork ahead of us.
