Oh, for the love of God.....

First off, my day yesterday started by discovering that Cate had thrown up sometime in the night and fell asleep in it. I was greeted by a crusty, smelly baby who needed a bath at 6:30am, and Tom had to strip all the bedding. She continued throwing up until I finally put her back to bed at 8:30.

Tom left work for a while to watch them while I went to the doctor. While there, I asked her about the pathology reports from the placentas when the girls were born. She told me that the report said the placentas "appeared to be fused" and that the girls were "probably" identical. While I understand that a lay person doesn't understand the myriad of ways that twinning works, you'd think that people in the actual "baby business" would know that fraternal twins can have fused placentas just as often as identical twins. We still know nothing about their zygosity.

Today, Cate's throwing up has been replaced by vile diarrhea. I can't even remember how many changes of clothes she's gone through today. She's in a good mood, though, and doesn't have a fever.

In funnier news, I introduced a new toy to the girls today. I gave them a second set of stacking rings. These are larger, textured, and some rings are clear with beads inside. Cailey is very fond of shaking and rattling the beaded rings. The girls were sitting tandem insided the playard, with Cailey directly behind Cate. As she was shaking the largest ring, the lightbulb went on. She looked at me, looked at the ring, and looked at Cate's head. She proceeded to whack her sister over the head several times, while Cate looked at me as if to say, "What the hell?" She reached behind her, grabbed the ring away from Cailey and threw it behind her.

Silly girls.
