We went to the zoo yesterday.

This weekend was actually pretty busy. Saturday morning, Elizabeth and I took the girls and headed to Archivers for some stamping/scrapbooking shopping. I was informed that I was "no fun" because all I bought was a Staz-On ink pad, white gel pen, and an adhesive eraser. I did point out that I do not have a job, however. After shopping, we had lunch at Ruby Tuesdays. The girls were alright. I brought lunch for them, and we managed to feed them and ourselves. Cate was very determined to get a hold of Elizabeth's food, however. When we got home, Tom left for a wedding of a co-worker.

Sunday morning, we headed over to the Racine Zoo. It's a free (not for much longer) zoo, perfect for small kids. It's small, and you can get up very close to the animals. This is the zoo that has had an orangutan and lion escape in the past year, so I hope the future admission fees are going to go toward some better animal containment. Shocked

It was VERY warm and humid, even in the morning, so at 11:30, we took everyone to McDonald's for lunch. It was not as chaotic as it could have been. We set up 2 highchairs, and I got bottles ready. Brodie sat with me while I fed Cailey on my lap, and Cate sat in a highchair holding her own bottle. Tom went and got our food.
The babies had their first Happy Meal. They shared a hamburger with a little bit of bun, and some apple slices. The standard Veggie Booty was brought from home as well. Brodie kept asking to play in the Playland, and being the good mom that I am, I told him it was closed. Then kids starting going in, and of course I told them, well they aren't following the rules (oh, come on...he'll figure out that I'm lying eventually...let me have this one thing! Those Playlands are FILTHY).

After we got home and put the girls down for a nap, Brodie and Tom went grocery shopping. Tom bought some new Naturals from Frito Lay (Cheetos, Doritos, and chips with no preservatives, artificial colors/flavors), and some organic pretzels in some wacky flavors, and he bought veggie burgers for the kids. What a guy!!

We ended our day with the perfect summer meal: Brats on the grill, chips, and corn on the cob. The only thing missing was watermelon, but the girls and I are the only ones who like it. Sad

*snort* That is funny, but I'm quite sure they would not use the Playland on 22nd Ave!!!
