So, as a reward for "proper toileting," we took Brodie to the children's museum today. We got on the road and about halfway there, Brodie starts screaming and crying. We asked him what was wrong, and when I turned around he was grabbing his stomach and writhing around in his booster seat. I told Tom, "Pull over! He's going to be sick!" Just as we started to ease onto the shoulder, Brodie threw up all over himself. Great. Perfect. So I'm cleaning him off with diaper wipes on the side of the interstate (while he's wiping it on my shirt of course). I pick up the diaper wipe box and realize that I'd set it down on a dead red-wing blackbird so I probably have the damn bird flu, now.
We drove up to the next exit and I took Brodie into a McD's to clean him up and change his clothes. Thank God I had a change of clothes for him, and an extra shirt for me. Tom cleaned up the van, and when we tried to put Brodie back in the van he started crying, "No! You have to go to the museum without me!" Awwww. We went to Target and Tom and Brodie bought upholstery cleaner, auto Febreze, and bottled water.
We made it to the museum, finally. Brodie was very good. He had a great time. He fixed a car, was on TV, played in some music booths, made a mask and had his picture taken with Waldo (as in, "Where's Waldo?") I stayed in the baby section with the girls, where I felt like a display at the zoo, and was ogled and questioned by some of the dumbest people I ever met. I guess their questions were legitimate for people who don't have twins, but not for perfect strangers. How do you know which one is which? (they're dressed differently, and I'm the mom) What are their names? (Nunya, & Business) Did you have an ultrasound? (no, I had about 10 of them...please go away) They went on for about ten minutes before moving along.
We had lunch at Jimmy John's; first family dining experience! Everyone thought all 3 kids were pretty entertaining. I will admit, it was cute. We sat at a round table. Brodie was flanked by the babies, and we sat on each side of the girls. Cailey was trying to create a diversion, I think. She would throw her plastic keys on the floor, and every time Tom leaned over to pick them up, she tried to grab his sandwich. I guess it's time for finger food.
We got home at 2:30, but it felt like 7:30. Nobody wanted to nap (except the grown-ups) so it's going to be fun here this evening! It actually wasn't that bad, today except for the carsickness. At least now we know that Brodie gets carsick when the van is too warm!
